Technology: Healthy Fast Food

This week we have taken a break from our Te Reo project to focus on our theme of Cultural Foods. A big part of our culture is Fast Food so our challenge is to cook some fast, but healthy food....

We have been shredding,

grating,

and dicing

 to make coleslaw

(our recipe)
shredded cabbage
grated carrot
diced onion
some mayonnaise

we have washed, chopped  and sliced our potatoes..
we kept the skin on because that's where all the nutrients are..

and we baked them in the oven, with a little oil,
because its is healthier then frying

we used fresh mince to make our patties- we seasoned them with salt and pepper and shaped them

then we baked them in the oven because it is healthier then frying

(our recipe)
for every 500g mince add a teaspoon of salt and pepper
mix in thoroughly and shape into patties,
bake on a tray, lined with baking paper, at 200 degrees for approx 20 mins or until cooked

we made raro but added no sugar

plating up....

we made enough for everyone

 Home made healthy fast food!

Yum!

Trash To Fashion

Thalia-Rose in Room 24 was recently sent an email....

The team at Cult Couture have asked me to see if you want to be involved in the amazing Cult Couture show. This is a professional and entertaining fashion event which engages adult emerging designers. This is one of the signature events in the Southside Arts Festival.

The fashion show includes a “Recycled Revolution” category which like Trash to Fashion encourages designers to make their garment from waste.  As a way to introduce the category we are looking for a group of Trash to Fashion garments to be involved in a performance piece.  This will be choreographed Lynda Burgess (she’s awesome!).

The Cult Couture team have looked over all garments from this year’s Trash 2 Fashion and have selected your garment to feature in the show.

I think this is an awesome opportunity for you to showcase your work again and be involved in a professional event made with the Pacific community in mind.

Thalia agreed; she attended some long rehearsals and the fashion event on Friday night. Mrs Sandhu and Mrs Woof went along to support Thalia-Rose and we were very impressed by her professionalism.

Well done Thalia-Rose and thank you to your family for their support!

It is our last week on our outcomes.

We have to finish them to meet our deadline.

but look at the end result

it's coming together now...

now we test them

more testing...

still testing...

soon we will return to our classes to hand over our outcomes...

We are nearly there...!

Technology: Making our outcomes continued...

We are still making our outcomes this week but we are close to finishing...

we have been printing, cutting, laminating....

we have been punching...

we have been attaching...

we have been comparing...

the prototype...

to the finished outcome...

we now need to package our outcomes and ensure all parts are included-
before we revisit our classes and test them again...

and hand them over..!

Technology: Making our outcomes

This week we have been making our outcomes....

we are making them on the computers

we have to be smart when we use the computers

we need to set up a template so we have consistent sizes

we need to use the rulers on the screen and rulers in class to measure our prototypes

copy and paste is essential for consistency

some of our outcomes are ready so we checked them and printed them in colour

we then cut them out carefully

then we laminated them

now they are ready for cutting again

we used the internet to find images

we used our prototypes to help us

we checked our spellings- using a dictionary

our long vowels were checked too- we added them using the symbol button or we drew them in place

some of our writing needed to change colour and size so it could be seen

some of our parts needed to be glued in place for laminating

everything we do has to be of a high level of quality like cutting out

laying out our information using a table

we have to work as teams and sometimes learn to work together

everything has to be checked
to make our outcomes to a high standard

Soon they will be ready!
