Technology: Year 7 Our final outcomes

We visited our New Entrants and Year 1's with our finished outcomes

they loved the fact that we now had put colour in our designs

they loved spinning this game and adding up the numbers

they made a train of number place value

this game was all about adding up candles

a more traditional game- the students had to use a dice which was new to them

our Samoan games

spin the wheel twice, find the matching cards and complete the sum

spin the wheel read the Samoan word and match the correct number-this game was great for our students who recently arrived at school

put the ice-creams in the bowls and complete the sum

this game became a board game- a dice and counters was used to count along the number line once it was created

our shop sells items that need paying for

we have coins to help us pay

match the Samoan butter and English jam answer to our toast questions

very visual

cookies and chocolate chips help our students with their math

matching the word with the value using trees

Technology: Year 7 Making our outcomes

We have been busy making our final outcomes

we are using the computers to make them to a high level of quality

we have to measure our prototypes then use rulers on the computer to measure our images

we have to be smart when using the computers

we use copy and paste a lot

this keeps our images, words and numbers consistent

it also speeds up the making process

once complete we print out the final outcomes

then we cut them and laminate them to make sure they are durable

some of our designs are too big to laminate in class- we have to use the library laminator

we learnt some new skills- how to draw on the computer

we had to be very accurate

we had to cut out carefully

we used scissors for outside lines and a knife, and cutting mat for inside lines

we had to be resourceful- we needed sides for our pool table

we needed balls for our table too

we used milk bottle tops

we tested our outcomes before we took them to the New Entrant/Year 1's

Technology: Year 7 Making our prototypes

This week we have been making our outcomes

Room 14 have thanked us for the opportunity to play math games

Room 14 are our bilingual Samoan class

we are now making our games using computers

we have to look for the right images that will be suitable for our games

we have to size our images to the correct measurements using the rulers

we have to be smart about how we create our outcome

copy- the squares, the dots, the text boxes

butter- for our toast game

chocolate chips for our cookies

trees for our matching game

trains - this game goes to 100- it's easy once you set up the first page- that's where all the hard work is done

next week we continue the making
