Technology: Modelling outcomes to understand how they are made

This week we have been examining existing outcomes, writing key attributes and modelling outcomes

Year 7's were writing key attributes for and modelling clip on bookmarks...

Year 7's used the cutting knife and
cutting mat for the first time

it was an opportunity to put new skills into action- the focus was to understand the process of making-modelling outcomes is essential to understand how they are made

Year 8's were writing key attributes for and modelling pop up cards

careful observation of existing outcomes
helped understand how they are made

some students made errors-
this was ok as they were aware of how they would fix them -
this is the purpose of modelling-
to work through any issues we have with our designs

Year 8's were refining their making skills whilst they were modelling outcomes

Technology: A new year

This year brings a change to Technology...

Year 7 & 8 have been split... this is to continue to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding of the Year 8's and introduce new skills, knowledge and understanding to our Year 7's

Year 7's

are learning to form lettering and enhance with colour

success criteria includes drawing lightly, splitting spaces evenly, colouring in one direction, colouring from dark to light- or light to dark..

Year 8's

are refining these skills, to draw in context, in readiness for their next project

we also did some meta-cognition- learning about our learning

what helped us learn the most...

careful observation, watching the teacher demonstrate, following all the success criteria, asking for help, using help sheets...
just some of the things that helped us learn
