Technology: Pizzas

We have been making pizzas- real ones with a bread base. 

Our recipe for bread

500g (3 cups) High Grade flour
1/2 tblsp (7g) salt
1tsp (5g) dried yeast
300ml warm water

We made the dough, kneaded it and let it prove.....


Then we shaped the dough and spread on our sauce



Our sauce recipe is...

1 tin of tomato puree
1/2 teaspoon of herbs
1/2 teaspoon of paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic
some sugar to sweeten the bitter tomato

We then heated it in a saucepan to develop the flavours


Then we added some grated tasty and mozzarella cheese


Tasty cheese has a strong flavour so we can use less of it to get the same cheesy taste- which keeps the fat content low


We also added grated mozzarella for a different texture- mozzarella is a much lower fat cheese then tasty cheese


Tasty and mozzarella cheeses don't burn at a high temperatures- which is why we can use them on pizzas


Then we cooked the pizza at a high temperature- to kill the yeast in the dough
